Become a CivTech Mentor

We're building a diverse pool of mentors to support our CivTech companies as they graduate from the Accelerator, build out their products and take them to market.

If you’re experienced in building and growing product-led tech businesses, and could spare a small amount of time to support an ambitious individual making real impact on the lives of Scottish people, we'd love to have your support.

What’s the time commitment?

We offer two mentoring options to our participants:

  • One-hour catch-up — a sixty-minute one-off meeting to discuss a particular question or challenge the mentee has.

  • Six hours over six months — a structured process where the mentor and mentee spend six hours together over a six-month period. Each meeting begins with an agenda (set by the mentee) and ends with a set of actions, to be reviewed at the next meeting.

It's entirely your choice which options you make yourself available for, whether you wish to work with more than one mentee at a time, and whether you'd prefer to meet online or in person. There’s no obligation to work with any potential mentees we match you with — all we ask is that, once you've committed to work with a particular mentee, you follow through and complete any planned sessions.

We will also ask you to complete a short evaluation form after each mentoring engagement.

Will I get paid for my time?

No, our mentors donate their time free of charge. However, we still expect everyone to approach the engagement in a professional and proper manner. Once matched, mentor and mentee will sign a mentoring agreement, which sets some clear boundaries around the engagement, and how both parties should conduct themselves throughout the process.

How can I get involved?

The first step to joining our pool of mentors is to complete an application form. This should only take a few minutes, and gives us all the information needed to check your suitability and start matching you with possible mentees.

We expect mentoring sessions to get underway after the CivTech Round 9 Accelerator completes in May 2024.
